Q: I would like to participate in direct deposit. How would I do this?
 
A: Please complete a direct deposit authorization form found on MyHR under forms, payroll and attach a deposit slip. This documentation should be forwarded to your time and attendance administrator.

Q: I am currently on direct deposit. Can I change accounts with the same bank without interruption of service?
A:
Yes, as long as you are just changing accounts within the same bank.

Q: Can I change banks and have direct deposit remain intact?
A:
No, there is a two pay waiting period to change banks.

Q: Can I have a portion of my pay deposited into my checking and the remaining portion of my pay deposited into my savings account?
A:
No. Direct deposit can only be sent to either one of the accounts. Some financial institutions have the capabilities of automatically transferring funds to various accounts. For further information, please contact your banking institution.

Q: How can I change banks for direct deposit?
A: Please complete a direct deposit authorization form found on MyHr under forms, payroll and attach a deposit slip. This documentation should be forwarded to your time and attendance administrator. The change will take place within 2 pay periods.

Q: How long does it take to begin direct deposit?
A:
Upon receipt of required documentation, 2 pay periods.

Q: Do I receive a free toaster if I sign up for direct deposit?
A:
Not from Cuyahoga County. However many banking institutions offer incentives for participation in direct deposit such as lower interest rate loans or no annual fee checking. Please contact your bank to see what they offer.

Q: How do I stop my direct deposit?
A:
Please provide in writing, your request to stop direct deposit. This should be forwarded to your time and attendance administrator.

Q: When will my monies be available with regards to direct deposit?
A:
Monies are usually available by Friday morning of payday.

Q: What are my accumulative time balances?
A:
Please refer to MyHr employee overview for your time balances.

Q: I am unsure if my personal day is still available for me to use?
A: Please refer to the MyHr employee overview for your time balances.

Q: How many exemptions am I claiming?
A:
Please contact your time and attendance administrator who can provide you with your current federal and state withholding allowances.

Q: How would I change the number of exemptions that I am claiming?
A: You must complete a W4 found on MyHr and forward to your time and attendance administrator who will make the appropriate changes to your federal tax withholding.

Q: A deduction called FICA is reflected on my paycheck. What is it?
A:
FICA is a mandatory tax for employees who were hired after April 1986 who are required to pay the Medicare portion of Social Security.

Q: I have recently moved. How do I have my pay warrant reflect my new address?
A:
Please contact your personnel administrator to provide your new address. You must complete a Benefits Office Change Form to update your records with the payroll and benefits office.

Q: I believe my time balance(s) is wrong. Whom should I contact?
A:
Go to MyHr form and print out the Time and Longevity Questionnaire Form for any issues you have regarding your pay warrant. Complete the form and attach appropriate backup documentation (copy of timesheet of pay period in question). Please forward the form to your time and attendance administrator for review. Your question will be resolved within one to two pay periods.

Q: I believe my service time is inaccurate. Whom should I contact?
A: Please obtain a Time and Longevity Questionnaire Form on MyHr under forms/payroll. Note on the form your concern regarding your service time and attach a copy of prior service verification. Forward the documentation to your time and attendance administrator for review. Your concern will be resolved within one to two pay periods.

Q: When will I be credited with eighty hours vacation?
A: After one year of completed service, you will be credited eighty hours vacation within the pay period that the one-year anniversary falls.

Q: When will my vacation ratio increase?
A: Your vacation ratio will increase based upon your longevity status. Bargaining unit employees should refer to their contract, union steward, personnel administrator or time and attendance administrator. Non-bargaining employees should refer to their time and attendance administrator, personnel administrator, or the personnel policies and procedures manual.

Q: May I have a copy of prior W2s?
A:
Yes, to obtain a copy of a prior W2, please contact your time and attendance administrator for a duplicate copy prior to 2006.  Otherwise, you can go on MyHr under W2 forms and print the years desired.

Q: What is the Cleveland Works deduction that appears on my pay stub?
A: Cleveland Works is a local tax that is taken out for working in the City of Cleveland.

Q: I currently work for a department of the Cuyahoga County and have a friend/relative who works for the Engineer’s Office. Can I donate time to that employee?
A:
No, the Leave Donation Program is implemented a Cuyahoga County and is a Cuyahoga County specific program.
